Better Than A Pumpkin Spice Candle

How and why to give your house that great fall scent without exposing yourself to dangerous toxins.

The Problem:

Even if you are not one of the many that is sensitive to synthetic scents, these chemicals are toxic. Synthetic fragrances, commonly made from crude oil, lead to exposure to benzene derivatives which are linked to birth defects, infertility, nervous system disorders, and cancer! If that is not enough to give you pause before burning that candle or spraying that air freshener, how about the hormonal dysregulation, lung irritation, brain fog, liver damage, depression, headaches, and heart palpitations. Personally, I am very sensitive to synthetic rose water which is in many women's body products as well as home scents. In fact, it can trigger a migraine in as little as 5 minutes.

The Solution:

  1. Buy a diffuser. I have a few from Amazon and a few from Young Living.

  2. Buy some essential oils. I use VitalityDoc Oils (by Wyndmere) available at the office or Young Living.

How to Buy:

VitalityDoc Oils:

Typically, I carry the blends in the office. For individual oils, call to put a request in for the next order.

Young Living Oils:

I recommend signing up for your own account. This will give you discounts on your orders and you can order (or not order) whenever you want. YL is a multi-level marketing company, but you do NOT have to sell or buy anything. As long as you order once a year, you remain active and if you pass the date, just order something to reactivate yourself. This is easy because they have a few blends and products that I can't get elsewhere. For example, Thieves Household Cleaner is the bomb. I use this non-toxic cleaner in my house and laundry. To get your own account, click on the hyper link above. Here are the starter bundles (many come with a diffuser).
